APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 646.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, with the approval of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to appoint Dr. HAROLD MACFARLANE to be the Govern- ment Bacteriologist, with effect from the 30th ultimo.

No. 647.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to promote the under- mentioned 2nd Lieutenants to the rank of Lieutenant in the Hongkong Volunteer Corps, with effect from the 11th October, 1909:--LEWIS CHARLES REES, WILLIAM RUSSELL and JOHN INGRAM ANDREW.

No. 648.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint His Honour Mr. HENRY HESSY JOHNSTON GOMPERTZ to act as Chief Justice during the absence on leave of His Honour Sir FRANCIS TAYLOR PIGGOTT, Kt.. or until further notice, with effect from the 12th instant.

No. 649.-The King's Exequatur empowering Mr. CHARLES FRERAUT to be Consul General for Chili at Calcutta with consular jurisdiction also over the British Colonies in Asia has received His Majesty's signature.

14th October, 1909.

No. 650-The King's Exequatur empowering Mr. TATSUICHIRE FUSATSU to act as Consul for Japan at Hongkong has received His Majesty's signature.

No. 651.-It is hereby notified that LI HING alias HING KEE of 25, Upper Lascar Row, Victoria in this Colony, has, by transmission, become the proprietor of the "Peacock". Trade Mark registered on the 22nd October, 1904, in respect of Substances used as food, in Class 42, by Mr. Ko TSAN KING, late of 144, Queen's Road West, Victoria aforesaid.
