APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 412.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the pro- visions of Section 2 (1) of the Marriages Ordinance, 1875, (Ordinance No. 7 of 1875), ROBERT OLIPHANT HUTCHISON to be a Deputy Registrar of Marriages, with effect from the 30th June, 1909.

3rd July, 1909.

No. 413.- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint THOMAS KIRKMAN DEALY to act as Director of Education during the absence on leave of EDWARD ALEXANDER IRVING or until further notice, with effect from this date.

5th July, 1909.

No. 414.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint CHARLES ALEXANDER DICK MELBOURNE to act as Deputy Registrar and Appraiser, Supreme Court, with effect from the 30th June, 1909.

6th July, 1909,

No. 415. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to direct that, pursuant to instructions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Queen's College shall in future be administered under and through the Director of Education. The Governing Body of Queen's College will therefore as from this date cease to exist and the Government Notifica- tions Nos. 14 and 371 of 1902, No. 683 of 1904, Nos. 92 and 95 of 1905, and No. 274 of 1906, appointing the Honourable Mr. F. H. MAY, C.M.G., the Honourable Dr. Ho Kai, C.M.G., the Honourable Mr. A. W. BREWIN, the Honourable Mr. E. A. HEWETT, Mr. E. A. IRVING, Mr. A. TURNER, and the Rev. T. W. PEARCE to be Members of the Governing Body of Queen's College are hereby cancelled.

No. 416. It is hereby notified that information has been received from H. B. M.'s Consul at Chefoo to the effect that quarantine restrictions have been imposed on arrivals from Hongkong.

NOTICE is hereby given that, the Governor-in-Council having decided that the resumption of the property registered in the Land Office as Kowloon Inland Lot No. 442 and Kowloon Inland Lot No. 618 are required for a public purpose, and private negotiations for the purchase thereof having (in the opinion of the Governor) failed, the said property, and all rights, casements and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining will be resumed by the Crown for a public purpose on the expiration of four months from the publication of this notice, and that thereupon such compensation in respect of such resumption will be paid as may be awarded in the manner provided by the Crown Lands Resumption
