WOOSUNG OUTER BAY.

Extension of the South Bank.

Notice is hereby given that a recent survey of the Woosung Outer Bar shows that the South Bank, abreast the Woosung Spit Buoy, has extended considerably in a northerly direction, and vessels are therefore cautioned against attempting to cross this Bar to the southward of the Line of Leading Marks unless their draught of water is less than that indicated by the signals at the Woosung Outer Bar Signal Station.

TEMPORARY ALTERATION IN CHARACTER OF STEEP ISLAND LIGHT.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 28th instant the existing Steep Island Light will be discontinued while repairs to it are being effected, and that a temporary Light will be established as follows:-

The illuminating apparatus will be Dioptric, Revolving, of the Fourth Order, showing a single flash every 20 seconds, the period of light being 15 seconds and the period of eclipse

5 seconds.

The Light, which will be exhibited from a timber structure adjoining and on the eastern side of the existing tower, will be elevated 239 feet above the level of the sea and should be visible in clear weather at a distance of about 22 miles.

The Light will be obscured by the existing tower between the approximate bearings of N. 63° E. through East to S. 64° E., and will also be obscured by outlying islands on approx- imately the same bearings as the present Light.

All bearings are magnetic and from seaward.

SHANGHAI DISTRICT-TSUNGMING CROSSING.

Alteration in Buoyage.

Notice is hereby given that the following changes in the buoyage of the Tsungming Crossing have been made :-

The First Crossing Buoy is now moored in 30 feet at low water of spring tides. the Buoy, Quarantine Beacon bears S. 39° W. distant 2.5 miles.
