An Ordinance to amend The Prison Ordinance

Short title and

construction.

Giving prisoner prohibited article.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as The Prison Amend- ment Ordinance 1909 and shall be read and construed as one with The Prison Ordinance 1899 (hereinafter called the Principal Ordinance).

2. Section 12 of the Principal Ordinance shall be read and construed as if the words "and every officer of a prison who contrary to any Prison Rules or Regulations gives or causes to be given or endeavours to give anything of whatever nature to any prisoner" appeared therein be- fore the word "shall" in the sixth line thereof.

Passed the Legislative Council of Hongkong, this 24th day of June, 1909.

ance 1883.

Short title and

BE it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as The Tramways Amendment Ordinance 1909 and shall be read and con- construction, strued as one with The Tramways Ordinance 1883 (here-

inafter called the Principal Ordinance).

Penalty for avoiding payment of fare.

2. The following section, numbered 61a, is hereby in- serted after section 61 of the Principal Ordinance :—

re-

61a. Every passenger by a tramway shall, on

quest by an officer or servaut of the Tramway Company, either produce, and if so requested deliver up, a ticket showing that his fare is paid, or pay his fare from the place whence he started, or give the officer or servant his name and address; and in case of default shall be Table on summary conviction to a fine not ex- ceeding ten dollars."
