Exemption.—Where the estate and effects do not exceed the value of two hundred and fifty dollars.
45. Receipts or Discharge given for the payment of money, or in acquittal of a debt paid in money or otherwise, when the sum received, discharged, or acquitted exceeds $10, .......5 cents.
Exemptions.--Letter acknowledging the arrival of a Currency or Promissory Note, Bill of Exchange, or any Security for Money, Receipt or Debit Note for the Pre- minm on a duly stamped Policy of Insurance. Receipts for pay and allowances of persons in the service of the Imperial or Colonial Government whether Civil, Naval, or Military."
Objects and Reasons.
The object of this Bill is to increase for purposes of revene the duty in respect of receipts for payment of money, and to impose higher duties on the estate and effects of deceased persons.
