His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honourable Mr. ALEXANDER MACDONALD THOMSON to act as Colonial Secretary and CHARLES MCILVAINE MESSER to act as Colonial Treasurer and Collector of Stamp Revenue in addition to his duties as Postmaster General, during the absence on leave of the Honourable Mr. FRANCIS HENRY MAY, C.M.G., or until further notice, with effect from this date.

No. 367. In accordance with Government Notification No. 342 of the 29th May, 1909, Mr. MURRAY STEWART was duly nominated by the Justices of the Peace as an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council during the absence on leave of the Honourable Mr. HENRY EDWARD POLLOCK, K.C.

No. 368.-Whereas the Director of Public Works has fixed the rents to be paid in respect of Crown Leases of land in the New Territories after the 30th day of June, 1908, at the same sums as were payable in respect thereof on the 30th day of June, 1908: It is hereby notified that such sums are payable as Crown Rent in respect of all lots for the year ending the 30th day of June, 108, and for each subsequent year during the residue of the several terins of years granted by the said Crown Leases.
