No. 207.-The following Bills were read a first time at a Meeting of the Council held on the 1st April, 1909 :-

A BILL

ENTITLED

An Ordinance to amend the Public Health and

Buildings Ordinance 1993.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

1. This Ordinance may be cited as "The Public Health Short title and Buildings Amendment Ordinance 1909" and shall be and read and construed as one with The Public Health and construction. Buildings Ordinance 1903 (which Ordinance as amended by any subsequent Ordinance is hereinafter called "The Principal Ordinance") and this Ordinance and The Public Health and Buildings Ordinances 1903-1908 may be cited together as "The Public Health and Buildings Ordinances 1903-1909 ".

2. Sections 73 and 74 of the Principal Ordinance are Amends bereby amended by the deletion of the words "Registrar sections 73 General wherever they occur in the said sections and by and 74 of the the substitution therefor of the words "Head of the Principal Sanitary Department ”.

5. The following sub-section is hereby added to section Amends 222 of the Principal Ordinance and shall be read at the end thereof :--

"(8.) In the event of a notice in writing having been given to the Building Authority and plans and drawings having been submitted to him as required by (a) and (b) of sub- section (1) of this section the Building Authority may refuse to receive any further notice or any further plans or drawings in respect of the building operations or works to which the former notice and plans and drawings relate until he has received from the person by whom, or on whose behalf, the former notice plans and drawings were given or submitted or from his duly authorized agent revocation in writing of the former notice plans and drawings".

6. Section 235 of the Prinepial Ordinance is hereby re- pealed and the following shall be substituted for and read in lieu thereof :---
