The following will be the directions for using the Wade Island New Crossing by vessels bound up river :—
Follow the shore of Wade Island until 4 cables past Wade Island Beacon, and then steer across the river in a line between Wade Island Beacon and Hochow Beacon, keeping these Beacons bearing N. 51° 40′ E. and S. 51° 40′ W., magnetic, respectively. (A small tree is in transit with Wade Island Beacon on this bearing.) When about 3 cables off the left bank of the river, haul up river on a course S. 3° W., magnetic.
Following these directions the least water at present in the channel is 12 feet reduced to zero of the Wuhu river gauge.
