HUNGHOM BAY RECLAMATION BILL.- The Attorney General moved the First reading of a Bill entitled An Ordinance to authorise for public purposes the Reclamation of certain portions of the Crown foreshore and sen bed situate in Hunghom Bay in the Colony of Hongkong and to validate such reclamation as has heretofore taken place.

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Question-put and agreed to.

Bill read a first time.

MAGISTRATES AND CRIMINAL LAW AMENDMENT BILL.-The Attorney General moved the Third reading of the Bill entitled An Ordinance to amend The Magistrates Ordinance 1890 and to effect certain other amendments in the Criminal Law.

The Colonial Secretary seconded.

Dr. Ho Kai and Mr. WEI YUK dissented against the Third reading of the Bill and asked for a division.

His Excellency the Governor addressed the Council.

Council the divided on the motion which was declared carried, seven Members voting for and five Dr. Ho Kai, Mr. WEI YOK, Mr. POLLOCK. Mr. GRESSON and Mr. SLADE- against the motion.

Bill read a third time.

Question put--that this Bill do pass.

Bill passed.

ADJOURNMENT.-The Council then adjourned until after the Meeting of the Finance

Committee.

JURY LIST FOR 1909.-On Council resuming the Jury List for 1909 was considered in private.

ADJOURNMENT.--The Council then adjourned sine die.

No. 161.-His Excellency the Governor has given his assent, in the name and on behalf of His Majesty the KING, to the following Ordinance passed by the Legislative Council:

Ordinance No. 2 of 1909.—An Ordinance to authorise for public purposes the Reclamation of certain portions of the Crown foreshore and sea bed situate in Hunghom Bay in the Colony of Hongkong and to validate such reclamation as has heretofore taken place.
