No. S. 384. It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the Supply of Junks for Government Grab Dredger Nos. 1 and 2”, will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Thursday, the 5th day of January, 1928, for the supply of junks including all necessary tenance and labour for efficient working of same throughout the year 1928.

No work will be permitted on Sundays.

For form of tender, specification and further particulars apply at this Office. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. 738.-A qualifying examination for appointments of Probationer Clerks in Government Service will be held in Queen's College Hall on Saturday and Monday, January 14th and 16th, 1928, at 9 a.m.

Intending candidates must forward to the Secretary, Subordinate Staff Board, Colonial Secretary's Office, on or before Tuesday, January 3rd, a certificate as to character and education from the Headmaster of their last school together with their .name, address and date of birth.

Candidates who have passed the Matriculation or Senior Local Examination of the University of Hong Kong are exempted from this examination and should apply in person to the Secretary, Subordinate Staff Board.

No. 739.-Notice is hereby given that the Governor proposes to make an order under the Streets (Alteration) Ordinance, 1923, for the closing, permanently, of that portion of High Street, in the City of Victoria, which lies between a line across High Street, approximately fifty feet east of Eastern Street, and the "No motors" sign near the eastern end of High Street.

Any person objecting to the proposed order must send his objection in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 6th day of January, 1928.

Such objection must state the reasons therefor and specify the property with regard to the ownership or occupation of which such objection is made and the interest therein.
