No. 734.—His Majesty the KING has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance with respect to the following Ordinances:

Ordinance No. 11 of 1927.-An Ordinance to amend the Asylums Ordinance,

1906.

Ordinance No. 12 of 1927.—An Ordinance to enable certain areas to be declared prohibited areas with a view to the protection of afforestation operations.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 735. His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Dr. ROBERT HORMUS KOTEWALL, C.M.G., LL.D. (F), to be an Un-official Member of the Legislative Council for a further term of four years, with effect from the 4th October, 1927.

No. 736-His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Sir SHOUSON CHOW, Kt. (E), to be an Un-official Member of the Legislative Council for a further term of four years, with effect from the 2nd December, 1927.

No. 737.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to re-appoint, under the provisions of section 10 of the Medical Registration Ordinance, 1884, Ordinance No. 1 of 1884, Dr. WoG TIN PO to be a Member of the Medical Board for a further term of three years, with effect from 28th October, 1927.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 738.-A qualifying examination for appointments of Probationer Clerks in Government Service will be held in Queen's College Hall on Saturday and Monday, January 14th and 16th, 1928, at 9 a.m.

Intending candidates must forward to the Secretary, Subordinate Staff Board, Colonial Secretary's Office, on or before Tuesday, January 3rd, a certificate as to character and education from the Headmaster of their last school together with their name, address and date of birth.

Candidates who have passed the Matriculation or Senior Local Examination of the Uni ersity of Hong Kong are exempted from this examination and should apply in person to the Secretary, Subordinate Staff Board.
