EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

No. 279.

The Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, Ordinance No. 10 of 1899, Table L, Quarantine Regulations.

It is hereby proclaimed by order of His Excellency the Governor in Council that Haiphong is a place at which an infectious or contagious disease prevails.

Rules made by the Governor in Jouncil under section 6 of the New Territories' Regu- lation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, on the 12th day of May, 1927.

The rules relating to liquor licences in the New Territories (except New Kowloon), made by the Governor in Council and published in the Gazette of March 18th, 1927, as Government Notification No. 160, are hereby amended as follows:-

(1) by renumbering rules 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 so as to be rules 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

and 11 respectively;

(2) by the insertion of the following rules next after rule 1,-

"2. No person shall distil or cause to be distilled any spirits in the New Territories (except New Kowloon) unless and until a licence in that behalf is granted and issued to him by the Superintendent of Imports and Exports.

3. Every distillery licence issued under these rules shall expire on the

17th day of April in each year.

4. The fee payable in respect of each distillery licence issued under these rules shall be the appropriate fee specified in Schedule C to these rules, or the prescribed proportionate part thereof, payable in advance.";

(3) by the substitution, in the first line of renumbered rule 7, of the word "Chinese wine and spirit shop licences" for the words "Such licences" (4) by the substitution in the first line of renumbered rule 8, of the words

Chinese wine and spirit shop licence for the words "each licence"; and

(5) by the addition of the following Schedule,-

Schedule C.

The fee for a distillery licence shall be:-

Where there is a single still.......

Where there are two stills but no more.. Where there are more than two stills.

Subject however, where the period of the licence is 9 months or under,

to the following proportionate scale:-

More than 6 months......... of the whole of the appropriate fee. More than 3 months......... of the whole of the appropriate fee. Three months and under... of the whole of the appropriate fee.
