Appointment made by the Governor in Council under section 40 of the Liquors Conso- lidation Ordinance, 1911, Ordinance No. 9 of 1911, this 30th day of December, 1926.

The Superintendent of Imports and Exports is hereby appointed to exercise all the duties in connexion with the issue of Chinese wine and spirit shop licences, dealer's licences and distillery licences which were under the Liquors Consolidation Ordinance, 1911, vested in the Captain Superintendent of Police, the Treasurer and the Captain Superintendent of Police respectively.

Rules made by the Governor in Council under section 6 of the New Territories Regulation Ordinance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, on the 30th day of December,

1926.

The rules relating to liquor licences in the New Territories (except New Kowloon), made by the Governor in the Council and set forth on pages 417, 418, and (part of) 419 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, are hereby rescinded and the following rules are substituted therefor:

1. The regulations and appointment relating to distilleries and to distillery licences respectively and made this day by the Governor in Council under the Liquors Consolida- tion Ordinance, 1911, shall be deemed to be incorporated in these rules aud, nulatis mutandis, shall apply to and be in force in the New Territories as if the same were set out herein.

2. No person shall sell or permit to be sold any Chinese wines or spirits in the New Territories (except New Kowloon) unless-----

(1) such person takes out a licence in the form referred to in these rules; and

(2) such licence is duly paid for; and

(3) the conditions of such licence are complied with.

3. Such licences other than distillery licences shall be granted in respect of the Southern District by the Captain Superintendent of Police, and in respect of the Northern District by the District Officer.

4. Such licences shall be in the form and shall contain the conditions respectively set forth in Schedule A to these rules and shall expire on the 17th day of April in each

year.

5. The fee payable in respect of each licence shall be the fee specified in Schedule B to these rules, or the prescribed proportionate part thereof, and such fee or propor- tionate part thereof shall be paid to the Colonial Treasurer or to such officer or officers as he may depute for that purpose.

6. The Captain Superintendent of Police or the District Officer, as the case may be, or his authorised representative, may issue to persons holding licences under these rules temporary liquor licences, free of charge, for such periods and subject to such conditions as he may think fit.

7. If any licensee commits a breach of any of these rules his licence may be for- feited and cancelled by the Governor in Conneil, in addition to any other penalty to which he may be liable by law.

8. These rules shall not apply to European wines or spirits.
