EXECUTIVE COUNCIL.

No. 145.

Order made by the Governor in Council under section 5 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, Ordinance No. 1 of 1873, on the 8th day of March, 1927.

The following are hereby declared to be dangerous goods within the meaning of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, namely-

Saltpetre (potassium nitrate).

Jin

Chili Saltpetre (sodium nitrate). in quantities exceeding 150 lbs. Sulphur.

NOTE.--The above order makes additions to the list of dangerous goods set out on pages 18 and 19 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925.

Regulations made by the Governor in Council under section 5 of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, Ordinance No. 1 of 1873, on the 8th day of March, 1927.

1. The conditions of licence to store saltpetre, whether saltpetre (potassium nitrate) or Chili saltpetre (sodium nitrate) in quantities exceeding 150 lbs., shall be as follows:- 1. Saltpetre shall be stored only in a dry place where the substance is.

adequately protected from rain and other moisture.

2. Saltpetre shall not be kept in the same store with sulphuric acid, nitric acid,

hydrochloric acid, sulphur, or any other combustible substance.

3. Saltpetre shall be kept in receptacles, cases, covers or wrappings, the out- side of which shall be clearly marked with the words "Saltpetre, highly inflammable", in English and Chinese, in two inch red letters or characters.

2. The conditions of licence to store sulphur, in quantities exceeding 150 lbs., shall be as follows:-

1. Sulphur shall not be kept in the same store with saltpetre (potassium nitrate)

or Chili saltpetre (sodium nitrate).

2. Sulphur shall not be kept in the same store with chlorates, chlorate mixture,

or nitric acid.

3. Regulation 5, which is set forth on page 23 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, under the heading "Dangerous goods in general", is hereby rescinded and the following regulation is substituted therefor,-

5. Dangerous goods as aforesaid shall not be landed from the importing ship or vessel elsewhere than at a Government Gunpowder Depôt or at premises licensed under the Dangerous Goods Ordinance, 1873, for the storage thereof: In the case of dangerous goods not landed at a Government Gunpowder Depôt they shall be conveyed from the import- ing ship or vessel by the shortest route and in appropriate receptacles, cases, covers or wrappings, and be delivered and stored at licensed premises as aforesaid without delay. Every licence to store dangerous goods shall name the licensed premises, and the licence shall be valid for the premises so named, but for no other premises.
