No. S. 356.-The following statement of the securities lodged with the Crown Agents by the Mercantile Bank of India, Limited, against their notes in circulation, is published for general information under Section 5 of the Mercantile Bank Note Issue Ordinance, 1911, (Ordinance No. 65 of 1911) :-

HARBOUR MASTER'S DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 357.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in quintuplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Welsh Coal to the Hong Kong Government", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Friday, the 24th December, 1926, for supply of approximately 500 tons of Welsh Coal up to 31st December, 1927. The Coal to be delivered at any Government Store or other place within the City of Victoria or Kowloon, or on board any Government vessel moored within the waters of the Colony as may be ordered.

The first stock of Coal must be available about 1st January, when the present stock of Government Welsh Coal is expected to be exhausted.

Payment will be made at the beginning of each month for the quantities delivered during the preceding month.

No tender will be received unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $500 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person refuses to carry out his tender, if accepted..

The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract and to give security in the sum of $1,000 in cash to be deposited with the Colonial Treasurer for the due and.faithful performance of the terms of such contract.

Form of tender and further particulars may be obtained on application to the Harbour Master, Harbour Office.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
