dashes' as shown here- These "dots" and "dashes can be signalled by one or the other of the follow- ing means:
(a.) By short and long blasts on the steamer's whistle or siren.
(b.) By short and long flushes of a signal lamp.
(c.) By a hoist of flags in which "dots" are represented by any square flag
