No. S. 180.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Straw", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 27th day of July, 1926, for the supply of straw for the use of the Sanitary Department for the period of one year from the 1st October, 1926.

Tenderers must produce a receipt that they have deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $10 as a pledge of the bona fides of their tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.

The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract embodying the particulars prescribed and to deposit a sum of $50 as security for the due performance of the contract.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. S. 181.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in triplicate, which should be clearly marked Tender for Limewashing in Victoria", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 27th day of July, 1926, for the Limewashing of tenement houses in the Island of Hongkong (the City of Victoria and the villages or districts known as Wong Nei Chung, Tai Hang, Tung Lo Wan, Tsat Tsz Mui, Whitfield, Quarry Bay, Sai Wan Ho and Shaukiwan as far as the Tin Hau Temple), for a period of one year commencing from 1st October next.

The limewashing of a floor includes the limewashing of the walls of each room verandah and staircase, of all cubicle partitions stair casings and stair linings, and of all undersides of floors and roofs both in main buildings, offices and servants' quarters. The backyard must have its containing walls limewashed up to the level of the first floor. Carved, painted, polished or new woodwork in good condition, however, need not be limewashed, but must be cleansed.

Tenderers must produce a receipt that they have deposited in the Treasury the sum of $50 as a pledge of the bona fides of their tender, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown if any tenderer fails or refuses to carry out his tender, should the same have been accepted.

The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract coutaining condi- tions to be prescribed by the Board and also to give security by depositing a sum of $300 in the Treasury; failing compliance with these requirements the sum deposited with the tender will be forfeited.
