By-laws made under section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, Ordinance No. 1 of 1903.

The By-laws contained in Schedule B of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, and published on pages 1597-1599 of Volume III of the Ordinances of Hong Kong 1844-1923, under the heading "Prevention and Mitigation of Epidemic, Endemic, Con- tagious or Infectious Disease are hereby amended by the addition of the following:-

9.-(a) The Governor in Council may at any time and from time to time declare an occasion to exist in any district or districts, which, for the prevention as far as possible, or mitigation of any epidemic, endemic, contagious or infectious disease, necessitates the coming into force of the following by-laws, and thereupon and on the publication of such declaration in the Gazette, and so long as any such declaration shall subsist, the said by-laws shall be in force in the district or districts to which the same are or may be applied. Subject as aforesaid the said by-laws shall be in abeyance.

(b) No person shall sell or offer for sale any fresh fruit unless the same is

whole, that is to say, uncut and unpceled.

(c) No person shall sell or offer for sale ice-cream, or any frozen or chilled preparation commonly known as 'ice-cream' unless the seller holds a permit in writing in that behalf signed by the Head of the Sanitary Department and by the Medical Officer of Health.

No. 715.-With reference to Government Notification No. 675 of the 10th December, 1926, it is hereby notified that Mr. ARTHUR DYER BALL ceased to act as Attorney General on the 20th December, 1926.

No. 716. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Dr. WILLIAM BROWNLOW ASHE MOORE to act as Principal Civil Medical Officer during the absence from the Colony of Dr. JOSEPH BARTLETT ADDISON, M.B.E., with effect from the 1st January, 1927.
