The number of serious fires showed a slight decrease; details of the more notable ones are appended below:
12th May, 1954-No. 211 Tai Nam Street, Kowloon. A fire
occurred at the above premises in the early hours of the 12th May, 1954 and it is with deep regret that I record that one of the Brigade's capable officers, Sub Officer Chung Chung Pak, lost his life in the execution of his duties at this fire.
