end-use
First,
In respect of retained imports by major
categories, the following developments can be noted.
the year-on-year growth rates in real terms of retained
imports of capital goods and of raw materials and semi-manufactures have remained negative
four consecutive
quarters, i.e. since the fourth quarter of 1981. Second, the
growth rate in real terms of retained imports of consumer
goods has stopped decelerating since the second quarter, probably indicating some pick-up in domestic consumption.
