1. Most Hong Kong citizens who become stranded or run into trouble contact the Hong Kong Government Office for advice and assistance.

A common complaint is the loss of passports. While the HKGO cannot replace them, they assist by directing those concerned to the appropriate department in the Home Office and are on hand to help further if necessary.

3. There is a section within the HKGO which deals with those who have lost their money or had their funds stolen. If the unfortunate person is a government servant, then the HKGO can give him an advance of funds which will be deducted from his salary at a later date. There is also a loan scheme in operation where HKGO can give funds to a person who has lost his money to enable him to continue his stay in the UK. The sum would then be repaid in Hong Kong.

CAYMAN ISLANDS

The Cayman Islands Tourist Office cannot financially assist stranded travellers from the Caymans. They do not have the
