Thank you for your note of 22 October.

Francis K S

There seems to be some duplication of effort here. Cheung from HKID wrote to John Woodrow en 8 October (7 have just

been sent the copy that went to Carol Kellas) with a long

schedule for the transfer of UK-related papers and functions to the BCG. The reference is IMM/SEC 7/2926(66). No copy was sent to Passport Agency, but I shall rectify that.

It is envisaged in the schedule that the files relating to the

Selection scneme WILL De transferred pack lu Like nume Office.

This has been my assumption hitherto. It was certainly my immediate reaction when Judy Ching raised the matter when I visited last July. I do not recall her mentioning that she and

Jeremy Page had already taken another view ie. that they should

be transferred to the BCG. I wonder whether they consulted B4

first. I intended to go into these

Lo go into these and other arrangements appertaining to the future of the Selection Scheme and its

eventual winding down when I visit in November. I have been waiting for the Orders in Council to be disposed of before

turning my attention to the matter.

The future (staff requirements in particular) is an area on which I particularly need to focus over

over the coming months. I should like to go through HKID's detailed paper and consult about the disposal of the Scheme records. Would Mr Yeung be willing to discuss the matter when I visit in just over a fortnight's time?
