Remarks: #

(1) Workload is estimated on the following assumptions:

(a) The

cut-off date for registration and natualisation as a HK BDTC under BNA 1981 is on 01.04.1996. The estimated workload for 1996/97 will be applications received before the deadline.

(b) 70% of about 2 116 000 non-HKBDTCs in HK would be

potential applicants for naturalisation towards the run-up to 1997.

(c) The estimated potential applicants for minor registration as HK BDTCs towards the run-up to 1997 would be about 91 000 (83 000 from local born applicants and 8 000 from non-HK born applicants).

(2) In light of the uncertainty in the public's demand, all the workload projection will need to be reviewed nearer

to 1997.
