and other members of the staff of the office shall not

be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful arrest or detention and, in any event, shall not be subjected to arrest or detention except in accordance with Hong Kong laws uniformly applied to the Head and other members of the staff of similar institutions.

The Commission and its office shall enjoy immunity from suit and legal process.

The Head of the Office, his or her spouse and children under the age of eighteen, shall enjoy respectively the like immunity from suit and legal process as is accorded to a diplomatic agent and members of the family of a diplomatic agent forming part of his household. Other members of the staff of the Office shall enjoy immunity from suit and legal process in respect of things done or omitted to be done in the

course of the performance of their official duties.

The Head of the Office and other members of the staff

of the Office shall be exempt from :

-registration as aliens,

-any requirement to obtain work permits, and

-any requirement in relation to social security provisions.

The Hong Kong Government shall make arrangements for the issue to members of the staff of the Office and their families, other than those permanently resident in Hong Kong, of identity cards indicating their

status as members of the staff of the Office and of

gratis visas for the purpose of travelling to Hong Kong to take up their posts which will permit unconditional stay.
