would not be able to endorse a formal submission on the

Consulate General to Treasury. We had to show that we had

thoroughly examined all aspects and had accurately calculated

their costs.

ACTION. OED to provide further figures with input from RFD to be considered at the next meeting of the Working Group.

OED/NTCD to prepare a paper on managerial ways of dealing with

peak demand for passports for inclusion with their submission to

Treasury.

HKD to arrange a further meeting with representatives from RFD,

OED and Joint Directorate, on 25 May.

5. The Working Group also considered the question of the

inclusion of the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) in the Consulate General building. OED confirmed that the

200 sq metres required by the BCC caused no problems provided

the MRS proposed reductions for Commercial Section are

acceptable. The Working Group decided that the BCC should be

asked to pay a commercial rent.
