British High Commission, Hong Kong

I tried ringing you but I was advised you were away from the office (other than briefly tomorrow) for the next two weeks.

I understand 'off the record' that the ground clearance piling contract for the foundation for the next High Commission has recently been tendered and the award falls between Gammon, jointly owned by Trafalgar House and Jardines, and an Australian contractor Leighton, who are German owned.

Clearly, whoever wins the foundation contract will be very well placed to undertake the main building contract.

Anything you can do to ensure a British Contractor builds the High Commission would be much appreciated.

I hope to see you when you are in Hong Kong next month.
