1. I gather from the Overseas Estate Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office you are not able to arrive in Hong Kong before 26 October. This is indeed a pity as I feel that your presence at the opening ceremony of the British Design Exhibition would not only be good publicity for Terry Farrell and Company but also for the British Trade Commission.

As you know the Governor is extremely busy and this was the only time when a briefing could be arranged to coincide with your visit. There is the additional advantage of the Minister for Trade, Mr Needham, jointly opening the exhibition with the Governor.

3. I do not believe that it makes sense to proceed with the briefing for the Governor and Mr Needham, without you being able to lead the session.

4. Is there any possibility you can modify your schedule to be here on 22 October?
