The Conditions of Grant of the site required us to seek the approval of the District Lands Office (DLO) for the felling of any trees. This is a general condition common to all land grants/sales and no specific mention was made of the two "protected" trees.

For the purpose of obtaining permission

to fell trees a report was prepared identifying all the trees on the site and the course of action propused for each tree. The report identified 159No. trees on the site of which 108No AYA to be felled to make way for the future building This mamla includes the

The two passesbed press XDE affected by the site formation works. They are not good specimens and not suitable for transplanting. 25No. trees will definitely be preserved. Every attempt

attempt will be made to preserve a further 168o, which are at the boundary of

of the site formation works. The balance of 10No. were offered for examgalanting to a cite to be designated by DLC.

Only these

ten trees were considered to be suitable for transplanting and in a position where access for equipment to uplift the trees was practical. There was nowhere to relocate these trees within or adjacent to the site. Temporary relocation off site for eventual return at a later date was ruled out due to the uncertainties surrounding transplanting.

In addition the report outlined the extensive replanting that will be carried out within the completed development to compensate for the loss of existing trees.

design is far from finalised but currently we have allowed for more than 100No. "Heavy Standard" size trees to be planted ("Heavy Standard" would be 3 to 4m high and 70-100mm diameter).
