Here is the draft for the telex to the SBTC Hong Kong:-
"OED have been assessing the potential cost savings indicated in these
discuss Widnell's report (faxed to Rust Jarvis on 27 January) and after further discussion with Farrellye conclude that Option A of their summary is reasonable and the best way forward in order to generate the necessary savings while still maintaining quality.
The proposals are:-
(i) Delete multi-purpose hall saving HK$ 11.0m

Delete two apartments saving HK$ 4.0m (iii) Delete link between buildings saving HK$ 0.85m (iv)
Delete one floor of British Consulate saving HK$ 6.4m (x) Delete ramp and parking at level two saving HK$ 2.2m (vi) Delete parking at rear of security desk, level one, saving HK$ 5.7m

We are of course reluctant to lose two residential units and car parking but consider this now to be inevitable if we are to achieve the necessary savings. The proposals at Option A now leave us with seven apartments and forty four parking spaces, some of which will be designated for residential use.
Grateful for your comments by 5 February if possible in order for use to maintain the current programme."
