Both HMG and the Hong Kong Government have given a high priority to pursuing this case through the courts, not least in order to promote public confidence in Hong Kong's administration of justice, and to bolster business confidence
in the system. We are still working hard to secure the
extradition of Saniman from France with the same end in view.
We would like to be reassured that Hong Kong spokesmen are pulling in the same direction, rather than allowing Osman's apologists to drive wedges between Hong Kong and London.
4. I should be grateful therefore for some feedback on these
press reports which goes beyond what we have asked for in
our most recent telegram.
