EXTRADITION TO HONG KONG FROM FRANCE OF SANIMAN

Further to my letter of 23 July 1993 and your telephone message that the Ambassador is content with the note of the meeting, I enclose a draft letter for the Solicitor General to send to the Minister of Justice.

I have assumed that it will be natural for the Solicitor General (rather than the Attorney General) to send this letter since it was he who attended the meeting. The Solicitor General has not yet seen the draft and I would welcome your comments during the course of today, if possible, so that I may discuss it with him before I go on leave tomorrow.

Once we have finalised the draft, I will have a word with you about arrangements for handling here in my absence.

Copies of this letter go to Nigel Parker and Debbie Barnes-Jones (FCO) as well as to John Wood (Hong Kong).
