of Mr Rais Bin Saniman, and there are reasons to believe that the facts established by the investigation committee differ materially from the version given by the British authorities in support of this request for extradition.

The latter is essentially directed at apprehending a witness, but when one knows that several witnesses have been murdered in the present case, one understands the interest not to agree a request for extradition. Its inevitable result would be to put the life of Mr Rale Bin Sanlman is

Jeopardy,

Froni the available information, the report of the investigation committee does not mention any responsibility of Mr Rais Bin Saniman, who was not employed by the Hong Kong subsidiary of the Malaysian State Bank, Bumiputra Malaysia Finance Limited ("BMFL"), but was an employee of the Malaysian State Bank itself, Bank Bumibutra Malaysia Berhad ("BBMB") where he had « position as executive in the international deparunGIA,

Mr Rals Bin Saniman never was a director or executive of BMFL; he only had the tide of "alternate director", which corresponds to [that of a deputy member of a Board of Directors who attends the meetings of the Eloard and replaces the normal director in the larter's absence); now, Mr Rais Bin Saniman was almost never asked to effectively seat in his capacity as director at the Board of BMFL. except on the occasion of two Board meetings in the past at which no decision

relating to the facts in question was taken.

If Mr Rais Bin Saniman attended in some other occasions the board meetings of BMFL, this was not in his capacity as deputy but only when this was necessary to ensure a good connection with BBMB; he never had any direct responsibility within BMFL; his relations with this subsidiary were limited to that of an ex scutive dealing, within the international department of BBMB, with

a foreign subsidiary.
