It might be (not to say that it is likely) that the facilities granted to the Carrian Group are
explained by the finance granted by it to the Malaysian National Party.
Mr Ibrahim Jaffar, one of the characters in question, obtained by a bargain to be a privileged
witness for the Crown; it is essentially on the basis of his statements made as "privileged witness"
that is based all the action against Mr Rais Bin Saniman; one can imagine how credible can be
the accusations of such a character!

As said above, several murders have been committed against several persons involved with the
inquiry; thus, Mr Jalil Ibrahim who had been entrusted by BBMB with an internal audit of BMFL
and, precisely, had disclosed the irregularities, was murdered; the other murdered person is Mr
Winbush who used to be the chairman of the Law Society of the British colony and the adviser
to the Carrian Group and was murdered when, being on holiday, he had gone back to Hong Kong
to make statements in the context of the procedure.
This is to say that Mr Rais Bin Saniman, who has absolutely nothing to reproach himself with,
would feel threatened, if he were extradited and handed over to the Hong Kong authorities.
Mr Rais Bin Saniman had no role in the offenses which led to financing irregularly the Carrian
Group, his only role being, as an executive of BBMB at its international department, to
coordinate the monetary flows between the various agencies of the bank abroad; BMFL, which
never was a branch but a subsidiary of BBMB, obtained his intervention on the order of Lorrain
Osman and Hashim Shamsuddin, the latter being [Saniman's] hierarchical superior in the
organisation chart of BBMB, in order to obtain the unblocking of cash deposited with branches
of BBMB abroad; this unblocking, according to the internal procedures, involved no control on
the use of the funds.
