1 Please refer to TURs in which Paris recommended urgent political intervention in the Saniman case. On the basis of correspondence resting with Harris' Letter of 10 February to Deborah Barnes Jones, we assumed that you would support Paris' recommendation. We have accordingly submitted to Ministers, recommending that Mr Goodlad should write to the Attorney General in order to enlist the latter's assistance in getting our message over to the new French Minister of Justice. If the Minister accepts the recommendation, the Attorney General will be approached on 23 April. It would be unrealistic to expect the Attorney General to make any decision before 26 April. As soon as he does, we will ask Paris to take action with the Ministry of Justice. We will keep you posted.
