suspended its existing visa requirements to allow holders
of these passports visiting Spain for less than a month to
do so without needing visas. In other words from 1 October
Spain will be reimposing an entry visa requirement for Hong
Kong, not imposing a new one.
Since learning of this Spanish decision, we have made representations at senior level to the Spanish authorities
on behalf of Hong Kong. We would like to see an extension
beyond 1 October of these travel arrangements which have
worked to the advantage of both sides, although this is
ultimately a decision for the Spanish Government to take. We will keep the Hong Kong Government informed about the
outcome.
