Jen An. Vickers,
You may remember that we met in your office when I visited Hong Kong last March.
As you may know Lord Bonham Carter has tabled a Bill to allow ..G. to give passports to non-Chinese ethnic minority in, Hong "ang. I intend to participate - a couple of points which you may be able tö clarify for me.
1.
How secure is the B.N.0. passport holders right of abode in Hong Kong after 1997 assuming that the non-ethnics will not become Chinese nationals?
J
2. Am I right in assuming that the majority at least of the 7,000 individuals at whom this measure is aimed would have held full British citizenship has this not been removed by the 1962 - and subsequent-amendments to the Immigration Act?
If there are any other points which ought to be aired, could you give me the ammo?
Most grateful for your help.
Yours sincerely,
Willougly de Prude
