Which BDTCs become BN (0)s depends on which would otherwise be stateless on 1 July 1997 and Chinese definitions of nationality/citizenship will be crucial in making a determination on this. We are urging the Chinese via the Joint Liaison Group to provide these definitions. I shall consult colleagues in HKD. It might then be worth our getting together to take a more detailed look at this rather than embarking on endless rounds of minuting.
