Colleagues here dealing with your earlier enquiries about Indian government statements on Indian citizenship for Indians in Hong Kong, have been unable to follow them up. leave absences, the papers have now dropped into my tray!

2. I am conscious that we still owe you an answer on the question raised by the Foreign Minister's statement earlier this year that people of Indian origin holding BDTC and BN (0) passports could apply for Indian citizenship if they wished (New Delhi telno 283). We have asked for some background. I shall let you have an answer as soon as possible.
