OVERSEAS BN(0) APPLICATIONS

Thank you for your minute of 1 November sent in response to Miss Ho's letter of 28 October.

I have discussed this matter further with Miss Ho who has asked, in view of the difficulty for us to amend our instructions, whether it would be possible to ask posts to make it clear to applicants for BN (0) passports that they should state their wish to retain their BDTC passport. She suggests this could be done by issuing an additional sheet of advice to the set of guidance notes/leaflets given out with the application forms. According to your minute I understand that it has already been made clear to applicants both in the publicity and in the application forms that if they wish to retain their BDTC passports they must say so. Unless you can think of anything else that we could do therefore I think we can leave it at that.

3. In view of the apparent ignorance in Hong Kong about the information that is given out to BN (0) applicants by our overseas posts it might be a good idea to send them a copy of our leaflet/application form. Could you let me have a copy which I can forward?
