We have seen a copy of circular SPH 1/1/C(C) (93) III entitled "Transfers from Overseas to Local Conditions of Service". asked NTCD what the position would be for a British citizen who, deciding to transfer to local conditions of service, applied for naturalisation as BDTC (in accordance with the need to demonstrate his or her commitment to Hong Kong by becoming a permanent resident "as defined under the Immigration Ordinance").

2. I attach NTCD's response. BDTC/BN (0) status may not hold separate passports for each status. But citizens may hold a passport in one status with an observation that they hold the other. I enclose the Diplomatic Service Procedure reference to the procedures to be followed in such a case.
