Dear Sir/Madam,
Publicity campaign for the
phased programme for
British National (Overseas) registration
As You
may
be
aware, the Hong Kong (British Nationality) (Amendment) Order 1993 had received Parliamentary approval on 20 July iyys. trom now onwards, Hong Kong British Dependent Territories citizens (BDTCS) wishing to travel on British passports beyond 1997 must apply for a British National (Overseas) [BN(0)] passports on or before the relevant dates as specified in the Order.
To ensuite that Hong Kong BDTCs are aware of the cut-off dates for their respective age groups, a major publicity campaign has been launched in Hong Kong. For Hong Kong BDTCS living overseas (including persons studying, working, hospitalised or imprisoned abroad, etc.), we intend to disseminate the information to them through press advertisements, information leaflets, posters and radio announcements. For the
distribution of the relevant publications, we would like to rely on your assistance as we expect Hong Kong BDTCs overseas will likely turn to you for advice оп passport matters. In this connection, I should be grateful if you would arrange to distribute the leaflet (Form ID 639A) to Hong Kong BDTCs who approach you for passport facilities and to send the posters on Phased Registration Programme to Hong Kong community groups/ organisations/student unions for their information and display at
appropriate sites.
