REGISTRATION PROGRAMME

1.

The Hong Kong (British Nationality) (Amendment) Order 1993 which prescribes cut-off dates, by age group, for the acquisition of British Nationality (Overseas) (BN(0)) status by British Dependent Territory Citizens (BDTCs) with a Hong Kong connection was laid before Parliament on 10 June and has now received Parliamentary approval. The Order took effect on 21 July.

2.

Overseas publicity in the form of press and radio advertisements for the registration of BN (0)s is being handled by the Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKID). HKID will also shortly be sending out posters and information leaflets to overseas posts. Posts requiring additional BN (0) passport application forms for distribution to Hong Kong BDTCs who wish to register as BN (0)s should obtain them directly from The Clerk of Stationary, London Passport Office.
