BDTC/BN(0) Passports

Thank you for your comments on Mr Kelly's note of 14 June.

Following consultation within Whitehall, the way now seems

clear for HKG to proceed on the following basis :

a.

An applicant for BN (0) status who has a BDTC passport

which is valid until 30 June 1997 will be registered

as a BN(0) and keep his BDTC passport when issued with

his BN(O) passport.

b.

A BN(0) applicant who wishes to have a new BDTC

passport as well as a BN (O) passport must pay the

prescribed fees for both the BDTC and BN (0) passports.

c.

The BDTC fee will

An existing BN (O) who gave up his BDTC passport when

registering as a BN(0) and who wishes to re-acquire a

BDTC passport, must pay the requisite BDTC passport

fee.

There will be no post-dating of the BN (0) passport.

Both BN(0) and BDTC passports will run concurrently,

with all BDTC passports expiring on 30 June 1997.
