DIRECTION BY SECRETARY OF STATE
UNDER SECTION 1(3) OF THE
BRITISH NATIONALITY (HONG KONG) ACT 1990
In exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 1(3) of the British Nationality
(Hong Kong) Act 1990, I hereby direct, that in the period beginning on 3rd January
1994 and ending on 30th June 1997, the Governor of Hong Kong shall make
recommendations for the purpose of section 1(1) of that Act so as to complete the
number of recommendations in respect of each of the classes of applicant specified in
article 5 of the scheme submitted by the Governor of Hong Kong on 12th October 1990,
as amended by the subsequent scheme submitted by the Governor, both schemes having
been made and approved in accordance with Schedule 1 to the Act.
Furthermore, in exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 1(3) together with
paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 1 to the Act, I hereby direct that those who wish to be
recommended under the scheme in that period by virtue of their status as British
Dependent Territories citizens by virtue of a connection with Hong Kong, must be
benefitting from that status, or have applied for registration or naturalisation as such
citizens, on 13th November 1993.
