The likely
implications of a former
HKBDTC who becomes a BOC
funder Article
6(1) of the Hong Kong (British Nationality) Order
1986) on 1 July 1997 are as follows :
(a) he/she can
travel on a British Overseas citizen
passport;
(b)
his/her
residential status in HK as well as the entry
requirement for visiting the UK will not be affected;
(c)

he/she would still be entitled to British Consular
services, protection and assistance; and
although in general, the BOC status cannot be passed on
to the next
generation,
for the purpose of reducing
statelessness, a child born
