Although under the BNA 1981, BOCship cannot be passed on to the

apply to the Home Secretary for registration as a BOC but the

granting of such registration is at the discretion of the Home

Secretary.

When Compared with the BNA 1981, the provisions (relating to the

passing on of BOCship) in the Hong Kong (British Nationality)

Order 1986 are considered more generous in that :

(a)

children born stateless on or after 1 July 1997 to a

parent who is either a BN (0) or a BOC will automatically

become BOCS; and

(b)

grandchildren born
