Thank you for your talex of 16 August giving full details on Mr Tameen Adul Husein Ebrahin's UK and EN(0) passports applications. Är Ebrahim wrote to the governor recently about right of abode and right to land endorsements, the information you gave were useful for us to prepare a draft reply.

It was noted from your passport records that Kr Ebrahim's second passport No. 80C1215 issued on 8 August 1989 bears the observation that "Holder is also a British National (Overseas), with the right of abode in Hong Kong". We think that in fact the wordings "Holder is also a British Fational (Overseas)" would be sufficient, ia accordance with DS: Volume 25 Chapter 6, paragraph 6.1.13, item 14. This is because a Hong Kong permanent identity card is the only agreed document for direct conveying the concent of right of abode in Hong Kong beyond 30 June 1997.
