helpful to have some guidance on transport. The Director of Protocol, Mr Vivian Warrington, will meet the Foreign Minister, his official party and the bodyguards, who are all entitled to VIP treatment, on arrival at the airport. He will then escort the Foreign Minister, his wife and one other (if the Foreign Minister so wishes) in the Daimler to their hotel. The other members of the official party will need to use taxis or a hotel limousine. The businessmen and journalists will not, of course, receive VIP treatment and will, therefore, go through the normal immigration channels before making their own way to their hotel, again by taxi or by hotel transport.

As for the visit programmes, we will, as an exception, provide transport for the Foreign Minister, his wife and the official party. The businessmen and journalists will have to make their own arrangements. I attach details of the charges made by the two hotels for transport. Let know if we need to book hotel transport for the

You were absolutely right on the bodyguards. They will have to surrender their arms on arrival in Hong Kong and pick them up again on departure.
