The total estimated cost is in the order of £28 million (at current prices). Treasury approval has been secured for the initial contract stages and Colvin House has now been demolished. A site formation and foundation contract is about to be let. Our consultants are currently working on the detailed design and OED will soon be submitting to Treasury for full approval for the above ground work, prior to inviting tenders for these works in Spring next year. OED will also soon be submitting to Mr Goodlad a proposed list of contractors to be invited to tender.
Residence
The need for an appropriate Residence after 1997 is well recognised. We intend to return to the search with HKG once the new SBTC is fully settled in.
