The proposed package of benefits seems to have been reasonably well received by HMOCS members, with the exception of the sterling pension safeguard rate (HK$21: £1).

I appreciate that you have serious reservations about the sterling pension safeguard rate of HK$21:£1. However, the Treasury made their offer on the basis that there

would be no rift between HMG and HKG. I therefore hope you will avoid opposing publicly any particular element in it.

We have provided the HMOCS Association with a summary of the proposed HMOCS package. Full details of the package will be sent to the Association as soon as possible.

Hope members of the Association will study the schemes closely when they are available and send their comments to the Association so that further consultations can be held as soon as possible.
